Belief in the Holy Trinity
God as Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit
Catholics believe in the Holy Trinity because it is a central doctrine of Christianity, rooted in Scripture and Tradition. The Trinity teaches that there is one God in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is fully God, sharing the same divine essence, but they are distinct in their roles and relationships. This belief reflects God's nature as revealed in the Bible, such as in Jesus' teachings and the Apostles' writings, and is affirmed by early Church councils and creeds.
